For the 3rd year, Maryland’s Department of Agricultural is offering funds to farmers to plant streamside buffers. Three types of buffers are eligible for funding and free technical assistance from local soil conservation districts under this program: forest buffers planted next to waterways, grass buffers planted next to waterways or field ditches, and watercourse access control areas adjacent to pastures. This year, farmers are eligible for a $1,000 per acre signing bonus. The applications period ends March 10, 2023.
